Aaron Barclay paid a visit last week to tell us how he has achieved so much at such a young age. At only 17 years of age he won gold at the Junior Olympics last year and as well as continuing his studies, is training every day to maintain his fitness as a triathlete. The students at Waverley Park especially enjoyed handling his gold and silver medals.
It is the last week of athletics practise at school and the boys were keen to get in the last of their practise before the serious stuff starts next week. As you can see a number of them have great technique. We hope they go well on the day.
As part of Room 2’s writing programme, we are exploring how different instructions are written.
This week we found a recipe for truffles and took turns in groups to mix the chocolate mixture and roll them in coconut. We found that some of the icing sugar needed sifting, but we managed to overlook these little things and they were eaten anyway. They still tasted great.

Week 3 Visual Art - Photography
This week in our visual art - photography lessons - we were practicing 2 new skills:
1. We learnt about the macro function on our digital cameras
- Macro allows the camera to focus much closer
- This is great for making things fill the screen
2. We learnt about framed shots
- This is when you use other objects to frame your subject

Although some of our pictures don’t look exactly like us, we are very proud of the drawings and the new skills we have learned!
